My Story

The thrill of racing at 140 mph when you are literally 1” from the ground and not strapped in is exhilarating to say the least.

As a boy, I was addicted to racing from my very first go in a Kart. The addiction stuck and over the years I’ve developed my skills to be the winning driver I am today.

My story started when I was 17 and coaching junior kart drivers at a local track. A father of one of the drivers was a Driver Manager for a number of top international racers. We got on well and after seeing me race, he suggested I took it further. It all happened so quickly and four months later, I’d obtained my race license and was at Silverstone for a test with the Championship winning Formula Renault team. My heart was racing all day and after a series of runs, I was offered a race seat!!

Sadly for me, the funds needed to compete at that level were beyond my reach, despite countless efforts to raise sponsorship. Never defeated, and buoyed by the experience and the prospect of becoming a racing driver, I turned my efforts to the slightly cheaper Formula Ford series and took out a loan to buy the car and start a team myself. Four seasons and one horrific crash later and I decided it was time to try a different class of racing.

The British Superkart Series is, pound for pound, the fastest championship in the UK outside of Formula 3. On the basis I didn’t have £350k to spend on F3, I decided to give it a shot. Two seasons in to the series now and it’s fair to say I have announced myself as the one to beat.

Life as an ambitious racing driver has been stressful. Sponsorship is always hard to get but you never lose hope of that door which won’t slam in your face. I’ve had an amazing 10 years in the sport, driven some incredible racing cars and walked away from my fair share of scrapes. My unwavering ambition from the start has always been to race at Le Mans in the 24 hour race and I will get there. For me, it represents the ultimate challenge and is the sign of every great driver in the history of the sport. Le Mans may be a couple years off yet, so for now I will continue to race in the Superkart Series and am hopeful of lifting the title this season.
